Teenage and social issues.

Why would top students who scored highest for various tests suddenly turn into a delinquent for no apparent reason? Why would people stray away from the light? Various acts of crime plague the newspapers everyday. And yet no one is stepping in to do anything to salvage the situation. Why?

Are we waiting for others who are more responsible than us to actually do something? Or is the long wait meant for children to grow up at their own pace? In today's world, our society consists of both the adults, as well as the teenagers of today. While ideas and policy may come from governments, teens could also actually have brilliant views that are often not expressed or heard. The concept is pretty much similar to talking to juniors whom one feels possess little or no experience in the field of politics. This is a fallacy.

As ancient people say, never judge a book by its cover. I would say its almost always true. One may appear to be extremely harmless but actually betray and backstab people. An empty vessel may actually have a look of gravity, but end up crapping away most of the time. Getting to know one better is much more important than finding a friend you can tolerate. My mother used to say," Don't get a friend who just plays with you. Get one that can help you in need and can support you when needed." I cannot say that all of my friends are willing to lay down their life for me anytime, but at least I am always willing to do so, as long as that person is worthy of sacrifce.

Teenagers are those who are actually those nearing the prime of their life. Teenage is a period where one gets ready for life. At this time, games should already begin to take a backseat in our minds while the picture of life slowly fades into view. Many of us are still as weak as we were about ten years ago. Psychologically. Rather than the possibilities of life appearing in front of us, we see our own limitations. In the mirror of life, we despair at how far from our role models we are. What was meant for us to see was the possibilities of our character, our life, our family, etc. There's a chinese proverb : Be satisfied with what you have, and you will be happy in life. My advice that I have picked up from experience is as follows.

We each have a mind. Think for yourselves. 99% of the people makes the crowd. 1% makes the top of the crowd. Be the top. Real happiness can also be derived from satisfaction of achieving something. The greater the acheivement, the greater the satisfaction. I quote Adam Khoo, the first (in terms of youngest) self-made millionare at age 26. And just for laughter: How he destroyed other's lives. Our future is in our hands...and our minds.

Disclaimer: I mentioned satisfaction, not satisfied. There are differences.

We all have role models. As teenagers, especially, these role models may either 'manifest' upon on person or a group of people, namely friends with certain qualities we envy. Other than role models, teenagers also need to have strong yet flexible character in order to succeed in life.

Reflecting on what Adam Khoo had said in his blog, many of us actually concentrate too much on our studies and rather than getting ready for life, we instead train ourselves to get accustomed to a life of schooling. I would like to make another citation. This is print material, the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. Information can be found on the web. This is a book written to provide basic financial advice to beginners, by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Letcher. A famous quote I adopt, and even use with friends. "Learn to make money work for you, and not solely just to work for money." For one is a slave of the other.

In the book, Robert explains the importance of a business, how a business will run on its own but a profession would not (employee needs to work to get money), the difference between assets and liabilities, etc. To end off this post, I hereby recommend both the book Rich Dad Poor Dad and Adam Khoo (as a role model) to anybody who feels that success is a must in their lives.

"Success is not solely reaching goals, but also having moved towards them" Adam Khoo
"The only failure is not having participated" Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group
"Do or do not. There's no try and no such word in life" Unknown. Classmate spreaded
"Make money work for you, NOT the other way round" Robert Kiyosaki
"Saving up is the first step to walking into the freeze compartment, not a secure future" personal improvisation
"Mould the future or lose the future"
